The passion for education is renewed each day and each hour in our catholic universities throughout the world as suggested by the title of the “Instrumentum laboris” from the 2014 Congregation for Catholic Education. A passion rooted in an unshakeable faith in the possibility and need of an inrush of unique humanity inhabiting each person in his inalienable and sacred dignity. A very demanding passion that requires a high level of professionalism, an enlightened ethic fundament, a lot of care and attention, for just this way education is and will be a continuous source of life and hope.

Students, all those who learn through their lives, are not only parts of any educational machine, submitted to the rules of competition, objects of the market or subjects of consumerism, but also unique human beings who should deserve the best shelter and hospitality, in respect for their singularity, according to particular dynamics of personalization and sociability.

The “Christian spiritual patrimony”, as a source and promise, inspires our universities to become endless and hardworking shipyards of freedom, truth and solidarity.

Before “spiritual poverty”, the “downgrading of cultural levels” and the disturbing reductionism of anthropological density in education possible to be seen in today’s world, it’s up to catholic universities not to be left behind, whether in their ability to place the dignity of each student above and before any institutional framing or any university social function, or in being a specific voice, loud and clear, on the present and future of education. In truth, amongst such human and cultural aridity, there is a huge thirst of freedom and truth, of good and beauty.

To renew this passion for education, which equally implies to renew its proposal of “integral education”, to strengthen this identity and to give voice to this unique voice, necessary and present in a great diversity of cultures around the world, the EducA magazine is edited.

In the womb of catholic universities and in the Easter of 2015, this International Catholic Education Magazine is born, edited by ACISE-International Catholic Association of Science of Education Institutions, member of FIUC-International Federation of Catholic Universities, with head office in Paris.

EducA is a peer-reviewed online international magazine, to be initially edited once a year, collecting the contributions of worldwide education research done in catholic universities.

The main goals of EducA are (i) to stimulate the edition of research results coming from catholic universities from around the world; (ii) to disseminate this research and its main results for all the international community and political decision makers; (iii) to stimulate scientific and professional cooperation and the dialogue between researchers on educational matters from catholic universities from around the world, representing such different cultures and traditions.

EducA articles are edited in FIUC’s official languages (French, Spanish, English, Italian and Portuguese). The Scientific Committee and the Editorial Committee of the magazine are formalized and growing. The main theme of the first number, “The distances in education”, had Professor Juan Carlos Torre Puente (Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Madrid) as invited editor. The theme for the 2016 number will be “Being open to others”.

Catholic universities develop a research and reflection on education that should be present in public spaces, with its own inspiration, always in an atmosphere of open and plural dialogue. With a lively face of hope, always.

To accomplish these missions, here we stand on a continuous serving attitude.
